How To: Resumes

Posted by on Aug 2, 2011 in Featured | 0 comments

It is important that the resume or curriculum vitae (C.V.) is visually appealing for the interviewer.  It should be no more than two pages in length, organized, up-to-date, and easy for the interview selection team to scan quickly.  Resumes must catch the attention quickly in order to be effective.  Often there are two hundred to three hundred applicants and the people scanning the resumes will only have limited time to review all the applicants.

Organization and visual layout are the most important factor.  There is not a specific format that must be used, the resume simply needs to be neat and easy to read.  Employers will not see important information when scanning your resume if it is not visually organized.  You do not want the interviewer to struggle to find the information that they are looking for.  The resume is easier to read if the type of font is consistent and the size does not change too much.  Keep the format the same for indentations, spacing, and capitalizing.

Below are examples of resumes that have been used in applying for teaching jobs.
